Veneers, usually customized from porcelain, are a thin, semi-translucent shell, permanently bonded to your teeth. While they are not suitable for every patient, veneers are a cosmetic alternative for a variety of dental conditions of the front teeth, including:
- Broken or chipped teeth
- Permanently stained or discolored teeth
- Diastemas (spaces between the teeth)
- Unsightly, stained or discolored teeth
- Misshapen or crooked teeth
Some advantages of veneers are:
- Often no anesthesia is required
- Veneers are less time-consuming than full crowns
- Only a small amount of tooth structure (if any) is removed during the procedure
- A healthy natural look is achieved with little or no discomfort
Your veneers are custom made to fit over your natural teeth, with a finish more translucent to blend in with surrounding teeth. Therefore, people won't notice your tooth, they'll simply see your beautiful, natural smile.
Porcelain veneers resist stains from coffee, tea or smoking better than resin veneers. In contrast, resin veneers can be made thinner so that less tooth structure needs to be removed before they are applied. We will explain to you which type of veneers would benefit you based on your circumstances.
